Torres del Paine, Chile
A top contender for the title of South America’s most stunning national park resides in the far south of Chile, above the Patagonian steppe. The Torres del Paine (Towers of Paine) that give their name to the park are themselves soaring pillars of granite, the most famous of which are named the Los Cuernos (The Horns). The park encompasses sky-blue glaciers, lush forest, beautiful lakes and fascinating wildlife: from ostrich-like rhea to condors and the llama’s wild cousin, the guanaco.
